FIRST DAY OF FIRST GRADE

Posted by Shauna |

What an exciting day. Mackenzie is thrilled for First grade. I am so blessed to have a child who loves school. Even though we had some struggles last year, it never once broke her spirit and love for school. I anticipate this year being a GREAT year!

It also feels good to us to get back on a "school year schedule." Even though we work all summer long, somehow it is easy to get off track throughout the summer. I am excited to be organized and in line for the year!

On another note - work is kind of stressing me out right now. I love my job - you all know this - but I am having a hopefully temporary moment of hatred toward the job. It may not help much that I am getting closer and closer to having my real estate license which kind of gives me an escape route. I have one class left that I am 10% done with. I think I will be done by the end of the week. Mackenzie going back to school also makes me have some animosity toward the J-O-B. I know that we will have a lot of homework in first grade, and it is important to me to be there for her at the end of the day when we need to be working on this together. Not only be there physically (which is difficult with my position), but be there mentally...also difficult with some of the requirements that they are putting on me right now.

I will not make any rash statements or decisions but keep my career and decision making abilities in your prayers!

Believe me, a realtor's hours are not good. Buyer's want to look at houses after 5pm and on weekends - makes it hard on family life. I certainly don't mean you shouldn't do it - just like you said, don't make rash decisions.

Stay positive. First grade isn't so bad. Like you said, it really helps that she likes it. If I remember correctly, and if nothing has changed (you may already know this) they send a packet of homework home to be completed by Friday. It makes it good because they have several nights to finish it, plus if you can't be there on Mon or Tues, you still have Wed and Thurs to work with her. Your kids are so great and you really care about being a good mom. I know you will work it out!

Linda - yes - I know that realtors hours are kind of crappy - I pretty much work them now - I work until 8 or 9pm 2-3 nights each week then I work every single Saturday....so it wouldnt be too much different.

I emailed you. Can't wait to hear about her first day. Who's class is she in? Curious if she got in Zoe's class. We miss you! I can totally understand your reasons for resentment. It just keeps getting harder as they get older.

Kristen Zirkle - are you kin to anyone from San Angelo? There was a family from here with that last name and because it is so different I was just curious.

Kristen, there was a fellow here who was a veternarian for the government. He used to travel to ranches when there was an "epidemic" of some sort. My dad says he remembers him coming to our ranch one time. Anyway, he passed away a couple of months ago. He used to eat lunch in a little local cafe and we made buddies with him. He cussed like a sailor and was absolutely hysterical. I always looked forward to seeing him and giving him a hard time. You think it's the same guy?
