I am drunk right now. | 8 (11%) |
Sorry for the delay in posting about this. Also, I think I am going to have to get into my coding and see if I can make it where you can see the results better in my sidebar. I don't know if you guys can see it but I can't. I know the drunks can't see it well. :) JK!
I think that this is a pretty controversial topic. People have a lot of different opinions on this. I personally fall in the 72% category. But this can be a touchy subject... Remember that you are welcome to comment anonymously if you want. I will delete anything ugly though so don't bother...
I really don't mind if your opinion is different than mine so please feel free to put it out there!

i honestly don't see anything wrong with drinking. i don't know why it should be an issue at all. i would never drink and drive and when i drink it is usually at home. nothing wrong with that and not hurting anyone. except me cause today i am hungover...UGH!
I guess I am in a different world than you. I mean- it is not controversial in my world at all. And no we are not all drunks either! Most everyone I 'know' drinks socially. And really me and my mommy friends fantacize about going out and drinking and partying way more than we can (if EVER!).....we have quite a fancy wine collection thanks to my husband. But we only drink it when we have company. Just never occurs to us I guess. Are there really people who think drinking AT ALL is a major sin?
I'm in the 5%. For me, and my religion, it's a sin to drink. I don't judge anyone for drinking, and I often think it would be great to drink and relax... but for me, it's a sin. For us, it's something that God has asked us not to do. So we don't do it.
wait a minute...maybe I need to check my bible, but I thought that Jesus drank wine. Regardless, I don't think it is good to find yourself in an altered state frequently but in moderation and as long as you don't drink and drive like the others said, then we are simply enjoying a nice cocktail or glass of wine. My dad always told me to have a balance in life. Never live too far to the extreme but I totally respect ICFROHM's beliefs.
One more thing...I love God and have a personal relationship with him so that is my belief.
Didn't want to confuse anyone that I was not a Christian...
I have to fess up to being in the 5% as well- but conditionally- I don't necessarily think that someone else who chooses to drink is sinning- but for me, personally, it is- and simply because that is what I believe I have been asked not to do-
I don't think that when judgement day comes we will be sorted as drinkers/non-drinkers, or any other "groups." I think we will be judged individually, according to the knowledge we have been taught in our personal situations. For instance, my grandmother and I belong to very opposite religions. She is an amazingly giving person. I, obviously, believe that my religion is correct, but in no way do I think that my choices are better than hers- just different, according to what we each believe and have been taught is right.
That probably all makes sense to no one other than me..... I tend to ramble.
I think it's a stumbling block issue for Christians. In every area of our lives, esp. with our behavior, we need to live so as to not cause anyone else to stumble. If a non-Christian sees Christians drinking, I think it can make them think that they are being hypocritical. (If, for no other reason, that they think Christianity is against drinking or that they think Christians should not use any kind of mind-altering substance.) So that is a stumbling block. Also, teenage drinking is a MAJOR problem, so by adults drinking, even legally, it can be a stumbling block for young people who want to emulate them.
Personally, I like a margarita now and then. I don't think that drinking presents a problem unless it causes a person to feel guilty, or poses a threat to their (or someone else's) immediate safety. With that said, I do not drink and drive. Ever.
I do not value drinking, nor do I dislike it. I think it is what it is, and only if it becomes a problem should it be considered a problem.
