Last night, Kip was outside cutting some branches off of one of our front trees - with one of our neighbors long branch sawing tools (I think that is the official name for it). DISCLAIMER: He was not doing this for fun - We have fanatical city people who go around giving out citations for fun!
He comes in and says, "Hey Shauna, can you come help me?"
Well sure I can.
I am a helper.
That is what I do.
So....I go outside to realize that he has gotten the tool stuck in the tree - he had actually sawed halfway through a branch and couldn't get it the rest of the way through. Not because he isn't super strong - but because the branch is super big.
He proceeds to grab an extension cord - couldnt find a real rope - to swing up over the tree branch - to pull down on it - so I could lift the tool up out of the branch.
Does this make sense???
Anyhow - this is not working.
The tool is stuck. I try and try and just cant get it off the branch. (Again, not because I am not super strong...I am...it is just a big friggin' branch!)
So we trade places.
I climb on a ladder - with the "rope" and try to throw it over the branch. Let me clarify that I am on the TOP of the ladder - like 1 step from the VERY top. In my 5'2" stature, I just can't get the dang thing over the branch.
So...I am so smart...I decide to move the ladder a little further out to a place that I can reach out and actually grab the branch.

Lose balance.
And proceed to TARZAN my way across our yard.
Yes - I was swinging from the branch.
It broke off the tree.
BUT....the tool was still there.
It was the wrong branch.
It was the wrong branch.
So I proceed to repeat the process - BUT THIS TIME - I will keep my balance on the ladder.
I grab the correct branch and start to tug down on it. Kip is pushing up on the tool. What does the 50 foot branch do? It completely TIMBERS down on me. I have pictures. Let me say that I took these this morning - we were out there around 9pm last night...so the scene was a little different last night.

Oh my goodness, that is too funny! Especially since it was taking place at 9 pm! :o) I have a similar story, only it was a vine, my husband could not get it out of the tree, so determined he hung from it and put all his 200+ pounds on it and flap, on his back (with the vine) he landed. Knocked the wind out of him, but we laugh crazily about it now!! Always an adventure huh?

was that falling from the tree that MADE THE CRACK IN YOUR DRIVEWAY////????? i once fell from the ceiling to my cement floor trying to fix cable in the basement got a rotator cuff tear from it
I want to see the pictures the neighbors took....smile! you guys are too funny!
I am feeling your pain! You should have seen the tree or I should say trees that hit our house during Hurricane Ike. They all had to be removed and it wasn't pretty. I would love to see the picture of you swinging through your front yard.
I wish I could have been there to watch all of that. I think I would have wet my pants laughing!
