Thanksgiving with the Callaghans

Posted by Shauna |

Happy Post Turkey Day to you all! I hope everyone had a blessed holiday and I hope you were able to take a moment to keep in mind the purpose of this holiday! Giving thanks! It is so easy to get caught up in the shuffle and busyness of any holiday - and forget why we are celebrating! I am thankful for so many things this year! I feel like 2008 has been a monumental year in my life. I probably say that each year - at least I hope that I do - but this year has been a big one. And its not even over yet!

Let me just list out a few things that I am thankful for - you may or may not care but every once in a while - I have to remember that one of the purposes of this blog is for me to record our "history" for my family.

  • I am thankful for a God that is alive and purposeful TODAY. I have felt God move through my life this year and use me in ways that I never imagined. It is very cool.
  • I have this amazing husband. He is so in love with me - despite my inadequacies. If you know me - you are about to agree with this next statement - I spent many years of my life looking for a man to fill a void in my life...that really - God intended only for Himself - that being said - God blessed me so much with Kip!
  • My kids are crazy - you get that from my blog - but you know what - I am a little on the nutso-side myself .... there was no way they were going to end up soft-spoken and obedient. :) But - they bring me so much joy! I am thankful that we all work so well together as a family.
  • My family has had a tough year with my sister going to jail. But - it has brought us closer together and I am so thankful that God interceded for Randi. And that He has brought her back to Him through all of this.
  • There are a lot more - but those are some of the most significant things to me right now!
Oh - one last thing...I am so thankful that I have a husband who will step up to the plate and cook a turkey...(because you know I am not going to do it!)

And you know that since he cooked the turkey - it was delicious - rather than burnt...

What I did do for the FIRST TIME this year - was participate in BLACK FRIDAY...dun dun dunnnnnnnnn...... I felt like that needed music.

I documented the time that we left for Walmart. Yes - not only did we do Black Friday - but we did WALMART on Black Friday. I know - we're crazy!

Here I am at Walmart. Yes Marcy, I am in my jammies sitting on a Dinosaur in Walmart. Get over it.
Here are my mom and little sister, Ashley! Can't you see the excitement! Oh, and Ashley was totally into this pallet before 5AM when you are allowed to be. Talk about criminals?!
The morning was a success. We went to Walmart and to Toys-R-Us. And we shopped online at Dell before 4am. (I am getting a new computer, thanks MOM!!!!!)

I don't think I will miss another Black Friday - it was totally worth it!

Stay tuned on Monday for a post about my birthday...yes...it is today...and it was a good one!

I have been thinking about you all day. I wondered how your birthday was going for you....a crazy time for a birthday what with all the holiday and shopping craziness.

And can I say I have never seen a cuter girl on a dinasour in Walmart before sunrise. Well, actually I have NEVER seen that before.

But you are a risk taker. That is for sure. And we love you that way.

A new computer? Beyond awesome.

Looks like Robert and I weren't the only crazy people battling the wal-mart crowd. Glad you had a good Thanksgiving!
