I thought I might give you the history of my kitchen today. Because, for being in my life for a short 2 years, it has a pretty extensive history.
Here is my kitchen when we very first met (April 2007):
She really didn't have a chance. I looked at her and I saw a beautiful clean canvas on which I would paint my heart out.
Here she is after her first coat of paint(May2007). Much better.
Imagine that, I was bored within a few months and decided she needed a little sprucing up(November 2007)!I have been content with her for the past year or so. We made some lighting changes but that is about it. That random ceiling fan got the boot, as did the popcorn ceiling!
Well, a few days ago, I was cleaning my kitchen and I realized that I had some brown paint touch ups that needed to be done. While I was painting, I realized that 20 minutes of paint touch ups WOULD NOT quench my need to transform. To change.
I honestly could not even control myself as I walked to the garage and got the screw driver. First door off. Second.
A few days later and we have this:
It's my favorite so far.
A special thanks goes out to my husband, Kip, who has not divorced me for being psychotic. And to my kitchen, who has not revolted against my transformations YET.

Wow. I love it too. I am impressed.
great job!! Black cabinets are the best!!!!
I think you've inspired me to post pics of our kitchen's history!!
You amaze me!!! It looks great for the party this weekend!
Nice! Did you go to the gym today? What did you eat?
Wow Shauna...you rock. I am SO tempted to do something to our cabinets...are yours just a plain black now? Cant tell from the photo, but is there any distress or detail to them, or did you simply take a black roller to them?
Jay
Love it. I once painted a kitchen black (cabinets( just to putoff replacing them in a few years (they were OLD and trashed) But we had to sell our house in sorta a hurry and I giggled everytime i heard someone come thru and say how great the kitchen looked. 'especially the new cabinets'...so dang funny.
How was the work out yesterday? Are you sore. Do you have regrets? Or do you look like a super model?
Black cabinets are THE BEST.
Black cabinets are sexy!
Looks really great! Big improvement and it looked great before. How do you do that???
Can you come and do my kitchen next? It has been the same since I moved in in May 2003.
I know I'm not normal.
Ok-I love it. I need some details as I have desperately wanted to redo our cabinets and wonderful popcorn ceiling. Was the ceiling awful to do? Honestly? And for the cabinets-did you sand them and prime them and everything???
I love it! I am still so impressed that you do all that by yourself!
You sound like me with paint. I'm so indecisive! I love black cabinets. I think almost every piece of furniture in our home is painted black...almost. Yours look great!
Love the new kitchen - good job!
Very nice! It just keeps getting better!
WOW!! I love it....
Oh I LOVE how redecorating/remodeling happens spur of the moment :)
My Mom hacked down a wall in their living room a few weeks ago at 11pm - Dad was SLIGHTLY surprised, hee hee.
That is gorgeous!! My 1982 cabinets need drastic help. Got a tutorial on painting cabinets?
OH my gosh.. LOVE the cabinets - that is my project goal for 09! Paint the kitchen cabinets black!
Love the new kitchen look! I think we're all looking for a quick tutorial. Did you sand them first? And then, did you put a clear protective coat over the black paint? I want to do something like this in my icky master bathroom, but I don't know how or where to start.
